Not a Peep Out of Any of Us

Not a Peep Out of Any of Us

Hi! Thanks for checking out this entry of That Was Rad! We're continuing our road trip from Iowa to Florida in December of 1989. I'm riding in a rickety old motor home with my three siblings and my parents, with not much to do except write in a notebook and look at the scenery.

As a 10-year-old, I notice things like the climate shifting from the snowy, cold midwest to the warmer climate of the South. People have accents I've never heard before and have different ways of greeting us. And grits?? What are grits?

One of my favorite lines in this entry is "Mom doesn't want a peep out of any of us because of the terrible traffic." I laughed out loud when I read it because I did the EXACT same thing to my own child a few days ago on a snowy drive to New York City. I definitely understand that sentiment now more as an adult than I did as a kid! Enjoy!
