Outside of a Kentucky Fried Chicken
The only palm trees we've seen were outside of a Kentucky Fried Chicken!
My 10-year-old self and the rest of the fam have finally(!) reached Florida! It's Christmas Eve, and we're still making a slow trek through traffic to Orlando in the big ol' motorhome, with four little kids rattling around inside.
Without screens or video games to play, I'm left to look out the window and document what my parents are saying about the trip. My observations are hilarious, including the curious lack of palm trees.

After this entry, we reach our destination and I don't write any more about it. There's a list of souvenirs I bought (including a Little Mermaid button which I still have!), lots of sea shells my very first beach experience and yes, Walt Disney World! If I unearth another notebook with more details on the trip, I'll be sure to share them.
This was the only Christmas in my childhood where we spent the holiday away like this. It definitely stands out in my memory more than some other Christmases, simply because it was outside of the norm. So for today's journal prompt, write about (or share in the comments!) a holiday or event that was spent outside of your usual way of celebrating or experiencing the day. You can think outside of holidays, too. How was it different than usual? Did you enjoy the new way of experiencing it? How does it stand out in your memory compared to the times you spend the day/event in your "usual" way? As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Official club members and Bffs, be sure to sign in to share.
