Don't Miss Out

March 28, 1991

Dear friend,

Well, I have so much to tell you, and so little time tonight. I will get "write" down to business.

I've been thinking, I really have it pretty good. Today, I babysat for a little sweet, one-year-old girl. I'd like to rename her Laughs Like a Mouse. Her laugh is shrill and squeaky.

Today, I wrote a story about when I got run over by six horses. I won't explain this to you because you are my thoughts and dreams. What happened six years ago happened to you!

Yeah, that happened. I was in first grade, and I was marching in our town parade, twirling my baton with my little-kid dance team. I remember the girl in front of me spun around with a look of fear on her face, and then next thing I knew, I was on the ground, looking up at a circle of faces looking back down at me. One lady had a really big hat. They all looked scared, which made me think that I should be scared. Come to think of it, it was scary.

It turns out that some horses got spooked farther back in the parade and trampled several of the acts in front of them. Not all of us got injured, thankfully, and nobody died, but some were pretty severely hurt. I hurt my ankle and was on crutches for a while, and I still have a scar 40 years later! It definitely affected how I felt about horses for a long time. I have since had some good exposure therapy that's helped me to work that out.
Today I wrote a story about when I got run over by 6 horses.

I revised a story called The Secret Garden, and I am now typing it.

Well, dreams are calling us, my dear friend, and Megann is going crazy. So I will let the dream road step before us, where we shall escape till dawn. Isn't that beautiful? Oh, well, I'll continue today tomorrow.

Love, Calandra DeAbloe.

For today's prompt, what was one of the first things you wanted to do, or be, or explore when you were a kid? I don't necessarily mean something you wanted to be when you grew up, even though that was something that we were asked a lot. But what was one of the first things you remember thinking, "Ooh, I really want to do this!" For me, I think it was to be a writer. Or a rock star. I'm still working on both, haha.

All right, fabulous club members, I can't wait to hear what you share! If you haven't already, be sure to sign in to get the conversation going!

That was rad,
Sarah
