The Last Time I'll Be in the 80'S!

It's December 1989 and my childhood self writes about being ten-years-old and feeling nervous and excited about leaving my first full-decade behind.

The Last Time I'll Be in the 80'S!

This entry really gives a sense for how my 10-year-old mind is working through the idea of the passing of a decade and the feelings that can come with that. Even then I have a sense that the 80's mark an iconic decade!

I also write about the prep for a big road trip. This is our family's first trip from Iowa to Florida, with four kids rattling around in the back of our grandparents' motor home. Enjoy!

Enjoy a live read-aloud of today's entry with commentary and a journal prompt!

I've lived in this decade for 10 years. I think that it was totally 'knardly', dude!
I am in the midst of typing a 60 page story called PS Goodbye.
We are planning to go to this beach with petrified sharks teeth and shells!

Our culture measures the passing of time in such interesting ways, and slowly we begin to absorb all that as kids. So for today's journal prompt, I'm curious to know when you remember first noticing the passing of time, and if you recall your first milestone dates, decades, or even birthdays. Be sure to sign in to share your thoughts!

You're so rad,
Sarah
