Don't They Know How Dangerous that Is?!

I spy on my neighbors from my living room window as they dig out a new basement. Also, my mom gets us tickets to a concert and I want to see Point Break!

Don't They Know How Dangerous that Is?!
Yeah, I might have been spying on my neighbors.

So I'm not proud of what I wrote in this entry. I am sharing it fully anyway (names redacted or changed as usual), because it's an example of a 12-year-old kid using her journal to express the things that she can't say out loud. I mean, that's what journals are for, right?

It's September 1, 1991, and I write about some construction work happening across the street. I spy on the kids from my living room window and have very strong opinions about their...activities.

I also mention my mom getting tickets to see a concert (which was always a really big deal in Iowa), and I talk about wanting to see Point Break with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze! Oolala!

Tip Jar

For today's journal prompt, let's talk about safety! As a kid, I couldn't climb trees, jump on trampolines, or roller-skate without pads covering every joint. It frustrated me to no end, and I felt super uncool. On the other hand, I still have never broken a bone (other than the questionable toe incident from 6th grade). How about you? Did you get to climb trees? Do all that fun stuff? Ride a bike without a helmet?

You're so rad,
Sarah
