I Just Finished Listening to Roxette.

I pass the time on our roadtrip to Grandma's by listening to Roxette on a TAPE.

I Just Finished Listening to Roxette.

I have two short-but-sweet entries for you today! I'm so glad you've taken a moment to read this, and my hope is that you can get a little bit of respite from whatever it was you were dealing with a minute ago. Maybe you can laugh a little bit, and take a trip down your own memory lane back to when you were a kid, (even if that wasn't that long ago!).

Listen to me read my entries aloud!

So, it's 1989. It's summertime, and my family of six is on a road trip to my grandma's house, which is about four hours away from my small town of Winterset, Iowa. (Hey, fellow Wintersetians!) I started sharing this journal in this entry, so be sure to take a look if you haven't already.

I write two entries in the span of nineteen minutes, and in the first one I mention listening to Roxette! Roxette was one of my favorite bands as a kid, along with The Bangles, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, The Jets (remember them??) and the Miami Sound Machine. Oh, and The Monkees. I loved the Monkees.

Roxette's album "Look Sharp!" is still one of my favorites to this day.

I loved pop music growing up and I even dabbled in some pre-teen songwriting (to zero success, I might add). I actually remember singing one of my original songs for my family and having their blank faces stare back at me when I was done. I might of gotten a conciliatory "wow, you wrote that!", but I could tell instantly that what I'd come up with was definitely not worth exploring further.

I digress. I still love The Bangles. I actually have my original vinyl record of Walk Like an Egyptian! For this past birthday, I was gifted All Over the Place, one of the albums that I never had.

Here's where things get really juicy...
